Meet the Board

Our Goals

The Kennedy Pond Conservancy Board of Directors seeks to care for, enhance, and create educational opportunities that will further the mission of the organization and the property it holds. We are dedicated to creating a deep connection between people and nature.

Ryan Macy

My name is Ryan Macy. My wife Kim and I met while attending Georgia Southern University. We have chosen Bulloch County to be our home where we are raising our five children. As a boy, I loved taking trips to the Sierra Nevada Mountains with my dad. I would spend hours observing my surroundings as my mind raced, taking in the trees, wildlife , and geology of the region. I developed a love for the wilderness and entertained the adventures that played out in my mind.

At Kennedy Pond there exists a great opportunity to explore nature and share this passion with our children and future generations. I am excited to have a place in our own backyard where people can experience nature in such a spectacular ecosystem.

Zach VanOtteren

Hi, I’m Zach VanOtteren. I have been in Statesboro since I began attending Georgia Southern in 2008. My wife Brooke and I have had nine wonderful years of marriage, and we will be welcoming baby number four in five short weeks!

Nature has called to me since I was a young boy. Stomping around the woods with my brothers and camping trips with my family truly shaped who I am as a person. In starting a family we knew that we wanted the outdoors to be as influential and important in our kids lives as they are to us.

When presented with the opportunity to begin Kennedy Pond Conservancy, there was no doubt in my mind that this was the chance of a lifetime. We want nothing more than to help preserve this beautiful and important piece of our natural community. My family and I feel so blessed to have a part in this journey. Our hope is that we can be the stewards this property deserves.

Hannah Womack

My name is Hannah Womack. My husband of 11 years is Jonny and we have been blessed with two amazing kiddos, Abraham and Drew.

Jonny and I both began our professional careers in nursing, but ended up opening a cookie business in 2016. We started out in a food truck and opened our storefront in Statesboro the following year. As entrepreneurs and small business owners, it has been a joy to serve and be involved in our community.

We have lived in Bulloch County since 2014 and have seen it rapidly grow over the past few years. We love living here and are excited for its growth, but would like to see its natural beauty preserved as well. I have always had a heart for the outdoors and I hope to instill that same love into our children. The fast paced, technological world we live in can be devastating without experiencing the beauty of our natural world. As a mother, my goal for my children is for them to respect and learn about the world they live in. Not only that, I want them to connect with nature and let it be a source of strength and healing.

I am honored to be a part of Kennedy Pond Conservancy. It is a wonderful opportunity for the families and children in our community. Our children and youth are the future! We hope that you will join us in preserving our future by restoring our past.
